Manufacturing Supervisor
The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily production activities on the production floor to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. This role oversees a team of production associates, provides hands-on support, resolves issues in real time, and drives continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, coach, and develop a team of production employees across assigned shifts.
- Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to standard work.
- Conduct shift start-ups, team meetings, and communicate goals and expectations.
- Address performance issues, attendance, and behavioral concerns promptly and professionally.
- Production & Workflow Management
- Ensure production schedules are met by managing labor, materials, and equipment effectively.
- Monitor line performance, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective action to maintain throughput.
- Coordinate with buyers, engineering, and maintenance to resolve production issues.
- Maintain accurate production reporting, downtime tracking, and shift documentation.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
- Conduct safety audits, hazard identification, and incident investigations.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure products meet quality specifications and standards.
- Partner with Quality teams to address defects, rework, and process deviations.
- Train employees on quality procedures and standard work instructions.
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance workflow.
- Support Lean, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives.
- Recommend process changes and assist with implementation.
- Administrative & Operational Duties
- Approve timecards, manage schedules, and coordinate overtime needs.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees.
- Maintain inventory accuracy for materials used on the line.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained and escalate issues to Maintenance.
Required
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or production environment.
- 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and production processes.
- Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
Preferred
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Background in CNC programming, machining, metal fabrication or machine shop operations.
Manufacturing/assembly floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment.
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and work overtime or weekends as needed.
