Electronics Assembly Technician – Greensboro, North Carolina

Role Overview

Industrial Physics develops trusted test and inspection solutions that protect the integrity of manufacturers, production lines, and laboratories around the world, ensuring the quality of packaging, materials, and products. This role supports the production of our global equipment in the Greensboro, North Carolina facility.

Summary
  • Performs assembly of electro-mechanical and opto-electronic components utilizing the following processes: subassembly, assembly, testing and finishing (Final-out/Gage R & R).
Essential Functions
  • Set-up, install, and troubleshoot computer software & hardware using Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  • Assemble, troubleshoot, perform acceptance testing and finishing (Final-Out) on electro-mechanical components and assemblies by using written work instruction, e.g., engineering drawing, assembly procedures, acceptance test procedures, engineering and industry specifications.
  • Perform gage repeatability (Gage R&R) on the system and transfer data to QC using Microsoft Excel.
  • Have knowledge of the proper and safe use of tools and equipment required to perform the assembly and testing of components and subsystems.
  • Achieve department productivity goals by complying with established priorities and work procedures, along with utilizing good time management skills.
  • Ensure all technical information is used and all work performed is properly recorded on the appropriate records, with all inspection tools and equipment in proper working order and properly calibrated during all job activities.
  • Contribute to team projects by exchanging ideas, providing process improvement suggestions, working well with other departments, and developing positive working relationships.
  • Initiate requisitions for stock as required.
  • Strict adherence to all company safety requirements and company guidelines.
  • Work efficiently within production time standards to meet production deadlines.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and team effort.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure customer needs are met.
Requirements
  • Read, write legibly, and understand English.
  • Perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Mechanical, electrical, and overall technical aptitude.
  • Timeliness and attendance dependability.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Flexible with changes in work requirements.
  • Ability to stay focused and meet deadlines, which may require working extended hours.
  • Attention to detail and pride in keeping work area neat, clean, and organized.

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

Supervisory Responsibility
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Required Education, Certification, and Experience
  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics or similar area of concentration.
  • Two (2) years in a technically oriented or complex component assembly/test environment.
Preferred Education, Certification, and Experience
  • Associates degree in a technical discipline.
  • Lean Six Sigma training.
Physical Demands
  • May require lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Standing up to ten (10) hours per day, or a combination of sitting and standing.
  • Ability to hear and see, with or without the assistance of a device.
  • Ability to read intricate, small, and detailed writing, with or without the use of corrective lenses.
