The position has a controlling function on the shift production activities in the PM Unit. The nature of this role is to

• The primary focus of this position is to maximize production and quality while maintaining a safe and environmentally secure operation.
• This position reports to the Production Manager and is critical to the day‑to‑day operation of the production area in order to meet site and customer goals and objectives. The individual in this position will have a critical role in relaying management objectives into day‑to‑day tasks for the actual shifts. This position provides a key interface between management and the shifts.
• The position is responsible for the coordination and the control of safety, environmental care, quality, production volume and cost of the total plant output. Provides overall supervision and leadership of his/her assigned shift.
• Major opportunities include improving product quality and consistency, improving unit’s safety performance and meeting scheduling needs. This position is responsible for solving day‑to‑day production related problems.
• Management representative during off‑hours including weekends and holidays. Ensures the execution of operating instructions during off‑hours but has the authority to over‑rule operating instructions in case of deviation, while ensuring site and business objectives are being met.
• Safety:
  Ensure employees are following safety rules and safe work practices. Develop and implement solutions to safety and housekeeping issues.
• Ensures immediate corrective actions are taken on all safety, environmental and quality incidents.
• Monitors and reports production downtime as well as provides a daily production summary detailing safety, environmental, quality of volume related issues. Closely follows quality and throughput to ensure both are maximized.
• Supervises his/her respective shift. Work with operating personnel to develop and encourage a team approach. Provide coaching and corrective measures to improve personnel performance. Expected to help shift‑mates with production‑related tasks when not otherwise occupied with other duties.
