Job Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations for Ruggedized Fiber Optics (RFO) products through the development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes. This role focuses on process efficiency, quality improvement, and evening/night production support while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across multiple shifts.

- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and layouts specifically for RFO product lines during operations.
- Provide real‑time engineering support to manufacturing operations and resolve production issues for ruggedized fiber optic products.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost during evening production hours.
- Collaborate with Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Production teams across shifts to resolve RFO process and product issues.
- Support new RFO product introductions, including process development, tooling, and documentation during manufacturing.
- Analyze manufacturing data from operations to identify trends and recommend corrective actions for fiber‑optic product quality.
- Ensure RFO manufacturing processes comply with applicable safety, quality, and regulatory requirements during evening operations.
- Support capital equipment projects for fiber‑optic manufacturing, including justification, selection, and implementation.
- Coordinate with 2nd and 4th shift teams to ensure seamless production continuity for RFO products.
- Provide technical support for ruggedized fiber‑optic assembly, testing, and packaging operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably with fiber‑optic or electronic components.
- Experience supporting production operations and resolving process issues during non‑standard hours.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications for fiber‑optic assemblies.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple shifts and provide coverage during production transitions.
- Experience in fiber‑optic manufacturing, ruggedized electronics, or harsh‑environment connectivity solutions.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar).
- Six Sigma or other continuous improvement certification.
- Experience supporting automation or advanced manufacturing equipment for precision assembly operations.
- Knowledge of optical testing equipment and fiber‑optic quality standards.
- Experience with shift‑based manufacturing operations and cross‑shift communication protocols.

- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $75,000 – $90,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location).
