Material Handler, Packing

This role supports Baxter’s mission of saving and sustaining lives by transporting, visually inspecting, and packing IV therapies, premixed drugs, renal therapies and other sterile solutions into cartons for distribution.

• Transport sterilized bags using a powered industrial truck from the cooling area to the packing line and remove previously unloaded trucks.
• Inspect and change batteries on the powered industrial truck as required.
• Maintain continuous truck unloading and carton erector supply according to the Bill of Materials.
• Visually inspect each bag for defects, ensure proper orientation, and log any defects identified.
• Manually unload trucks and package bags when necessary.
• Unpackage product and reinspect when necessary.
• Assist in performing line clearance.
• Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.
• Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.
• Learn and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

• High School Diploma or GED and age 18 or older.
• One year of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Possession or ability to obtain PIT Operator Certification.
• Possession or ability to obtain Inspector Certification.
• Basic English written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend written work instructions, drawings and safety/quality instructions.
• Basic mathematics skills.
• Basic computer skills.

• Lift up to 40 pounds at a height of up to 40 inches and carry up to 40 pounds at a distance of up to 25 feet selectively during the shift.
• Push and pull up to 48 pounds at a distance of up to 15 feet selectively during the shift.
• Maintain normal visual acuity and color discrimination.
• Pass the Powered Industrial Truck (P.I.T.) physical assessment.
• Stand, walk, climb stairs, reach forward, reach overhead, balance, stoop, and crouch as required.
• Manipulate objects and operate controls using a fine/simple/firm grasp.

Hourly pay rate: $19.95.
