Job Summary

Support the moulding plant and oversee the daily production process – days and nights rotating shift – during operations to ensure a productive workforce that supports all operational goals in compliance with all company policies and local, state and federal regulations. Responsibilities include safety, housekeeping, scheduling, management, organization and control of reporting production employee’s work to ensure the safe, effective and efficient operation of the department.

Reports / Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for moulding employees, acting as a technical resource and daily support person.
  • Hold employees accountable to performance standards and adherence to procedures by utilizing tools/resources available.
  • Lead by example through professional conduct, consistent performance, and accountability.
  • Help identify classes, learnings and trainings that would advance skills for our team members and provide a return for the plant.
Position Responsibilities Safety – Lead by example and be consistent
  • LOTO emphasis. 100% participation is the expectation.
  • Guarding. Ensure guards are back in place as part of rounds.
  • PPE. Don’t overlook it. Enforce all policies.
  • The cell phone policy applies to everyone without a work phone. Breakroom only.
  • Manage ABC Safe Teams App.
  • Complete daily entry and ensure team members complete daily entries.
  • Manage pending entries daily.
Quality – Engage everyone
  • Educate all team members on what makes an A-grade product. Spend extra time with stackers.
  • Ensure all samples on your shift are collected and meet quality standards.
  • Confirm and observe quality checks are being completed on every bundle.
  • Review LIMS to ensure operators are making entries.
  • Make sure forklift drivers are following FIFO.
  • Inspect both finished and partial raw units produced on your shift for quality, packaging specifications, piece counts, appearance, tickets, barcodes, band strength, etc.
  • Document all deviations from lineal feet per hour targets. Include on shift report.
  • Get your teams grading out quality and repaints. Salvage as much as possible.
  • Make sure barcoding is correct on every order.
General Supervisor Functions – If lines are down, everything else is secondary
  • Set the urgency. Keep the lines running safely.
  • Assign work to team members from the jump. Don’t assume they are doing what is right until it has been proven to you. The ‘everyone is a grown up’ strategy is false. Guide the work.
  • Have productive conversations when making rounds. Ask the operator to tell you what they are planning to do rect them and add to it. Follow up 100% whether positive or negative. Praise them when appropriate.
  • Give feedback constantly and over communicate.
  • Own your team’s schedule.
  • Manage vacation requests. Ensure you have coverage and provide feedback to team member.
  • Manage and approve your team members time in ADP.
  • Supervisors cover each other’s vacations.
  • Update the attendance tracker and issue the Corrective Action Form within the week of the occurrence.
  • Understand the attendance policy and be familiar with the employee handbook.
  • Manage team members training/progression plans in Success Factors.
  • Complete performance reviews and provide substantial feedback.
  • Assist operators in reconciling AMS. Ensure production, consumption, grade out, inventory versus detail are all accurate for your team.
  • Train. Train. Train. Explain why and emphasize urgency.
  • Document all coachings with the Corrective Action Form.
  • Ensure all shift pass-downs are happening and productive. Ask team members for feedback.
  • Complete shift reports every day. Detail all quality issues if grade out is over 1%. Add number of spark detects to report.
  • Ensure all quarterly safety trainings are complete for team members.
  • Improve housekeeping every day. Assign tasks and follow up. Confirm checklist are not being pencil whipped.
  • Participate in monthly finished good inventory counting with Value Add PIC.
  • Make sure all packaging supplies are organized and ready for the next order.
  • Complete reservations for all items pulled from store room on your shift.
  • Ensure operators are following production schedule. Escalate any requests for training.
