Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician II will perform a full range of duties and may provide technical assistance and guidance to the plant team. Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating machine tools, material handling system, and automated lubrication systems. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines by performing the following duties.

• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Assembles and tests operates machine to verify correction of malfunction.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defects or to remove defective part. Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads, and installs new pipe. Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment. Measures, marks, and scribes’ dimensions and reference points on metal stock surfaces.
• Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine the need for adjustment or repair. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Realigns and adjusts components such as spindles and clutches. Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic system. Repairs broken parts.
• Repairs electrical equipment. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Replaces defective parts with new part or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Sets up and operates metalworking tools such as lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make or repair parts. Starts devices to test their performance. Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.
• Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine type and dimensions of metal stock required.
• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.

• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret operation manuals, drawings, and technical procedures.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
