Laser Machine Operator – FT Sawgrass Industries | Saluda, NC Full-Time | Non-Exempt

Sawgrass Industries is looking for a motivated Laser Machine Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will operate and maintain laser cutting equipment while ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety throughout the production process. • Operate and tend automatic laser cutting machines safely and efficiently.
• Perform secondary production and post cut tasks.
• Inspect cut components to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Follow established production processes, work instructions, and safety procedures.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on laser cutting equipment.
• Operate manual cutting tools as needed.
• Read and interpret production orders, bills of materials, and routing documents.
• Identify nonconforming materials and potential production issues.
• Generate cut files to maximize material utilization and minimize waste.
• Assist with inbound raw material inspections when needed.
• Accurately document production data and maintain organized work areas.
• Support 6S initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Cross-train on multiple laser cutting machines and related production tasks.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two or more years of experience operating Gerber laser cutting machines, preferably in the textile industry.
• Experience reading drawings and working with tolerances.
• Experience with CAD software and drafting is preferred.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Experience working with a variety of raw materials.
• Ability to stand for extended periods during the workday.
• Comfortable operating computers and production software.
• Ability to lift and move materials up to 75 pounds.
