Position Description

This position is responsible for using a wide variety of precision measuring equipment to perform visual and mechanical inspection of critical tolerances of machined parts, assemblies, sub‑assemblies, and completed units.

Essential Functions
  • Checks tolerance and finishes of machined parts, wound components, sub‑assemblies and completed units using a variety of tools and gauges.
  • Comfortable using handheld micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
  • Familiar with using electronic indicators and digital height gages.
  • Familiar with using thread plugs, thread rings, plug gages, and ring gages.
  • Verifies each step in the process is completed and recorded properly.
  • Uses test equipment and gauges following engineering instructions.
  • Summarizes, files, and maintains records and parts traceability.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to communicate effectively with other departments.

Required Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with knowledge of advanced shop math.
  • Basic understanding of metrology principles.
  • Be able to use a wide variety of precision mechanical, optical and electro‑mechanical measuring instruments.
  • 5+ years’ experience in mechanical inspection or manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Must be US Citizen.
