Summer Internship - Elkin, NC

Weyerhaeuser is recruiting for interns for the summer of 2027 to work in a variety of roles in wood products manufacturing. At Elkin OSB, intern opportunities will be focused in the areas of Manufacturing and Engineering.

At Weyerhaeuser, interns receive extensive mentoring and have hands-on work experiences to build the foundations for a professional career. Many of our interns return as full-time employees' post-graduation, and a number of our senior leaders started their careers as interns in OSB is located in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Surry and Wilkes Counties in northwestern North Carolina.

It is situated central to University of North Carolina, Appalachian State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and NC State Universities. The mill is located 1 hour west of Winston-Salem, 1 hour east of Boone, 90 minutes north of Charlotte, and 30 minutes south of the Virginia/North Carolina state line. Elkin is a historical town with artisanal traditions, hiking, and wine tasting.

Qualifications

Must be a minimum Sophomore standing enrolled in an accredited college or university completing a Bachelor's degree (or higher), with preferred studies in Natural Resources, Wood Products, or Engineering Must commit to a 2-3 month internship, May – August 2027

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment

Well-developed problem solving and analytical skills

Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills

High level of initiative and motivation

Strong work ethic and personal integrity

Positive attitude

Be at least 18

Be able and willing to work a flexible schedule (most sites operate 24/7)
Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen (includes marijuana), background check, and physical

Be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Willingness to work in a challenging environment (outdoor temperature extremes)
