Production Manager

Supervises the daily activities of production personnel and provides key leadership to safety, quality, housekeeping and cost reduction while promoting positive employee relations within the production team. Monitors employee productivity by providing useful feedback and training. Sets employees performance goals that comply with the organization’s plans and vision. Consistently and equitably, enforce plant rules, holding crew member's accountable for all facets of their jobs.
Supervisor is held accountable to ensure production activities are carried out in compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements, compliance with legal and company policies, and procedures in a manner consistent with SGC Certain Teed LLC Principles of Conduct and Action.
Night Shift: This position is on the night shift on a 2-2-3 rotating schedule that includes working every other weekend. Shift hours are from 7:45 PM to 8:00 AM.
Essential Functions:
- Directly supervises the hourly production employees on the safe and efficient operation of the production line equipment and processes. Will lead shift safety meetings to ensure compliance to all safety, environmental and health policies, procedures, and practices.
- Communicates & documents employee expectations and assess employee performance. Provides coaching and development opportunities and administers disciplinary action up to and including termination if needed. Will be required to assist in the evaluation and selection process of hiring hourly employees.
- Oversees the training of production employees to ensure they receive adequate training prior to operating any of the manufacturing equipment and that they follow the standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Assists in performing root-cause analysis as well as implementing sustainable countermeasures on losses related to production.
- Maintains workplace organization to ensure good housekeeping (5S) by holding employees responsible for their assigned work areas.
- Reviews and approves employee time in the UKG timekeeping system and ensures employees are paid the correct hours and wages in accordance with the respective sites pay policies and procedures or collective bargaining agreements.
- May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Experience & Technical Knowledge:
- 5+ Years of Manufacturing (Required)
- 5+ Years of Supervision/Leadership (Required)
- TF Reporting/Safety (Preferred)
- Microsoft Office (Required)
- UKG & SAP Systems (Preferred)
Leadership & Communication
Skills:
- Good verbal and written communication skills (Required)
- General understanding of ISO methodology (ISO 9001, 14001, & OHSAS 18001) (Required)
- Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution (Required)
- Demonstrate through actions and behaviors the SG Principles of Conduct and Action (Required)
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S & Six Sigma (Preferred
