SUMMARYThe Director, Home Base Campus Outreach is to perform duties and responsibilities related to the function of the Human Service Ministry. This position will provide a ministry as outlined in the Home Base Program Design that will allow college residents to function at the highest level of competency and to achieve their advanced education goals. Services to this population would include providing a support network to assist these students and providing resources and funding to achieve success.
In addition, this position is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with constituents and churches in the area to promote a network of Christian involvement with these students.

- Meets general employment qualifications as outlined in the Institution’s personnel policies.
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in Humans Services or Christian Ministry.
- High degree of skill in nonverbal, oral and written communications.
- Must be proficient in the use of a computer and software applications to organize and analyze information, prepare statistical reports, presentations, charts and/or graphs, and maintain a database of information gathered.
- Demonstrate knowledge of current trends in the area of community outreach and after care.
- Have the capacity and commitment to build and maintain individual and group relationships within the college and community network.
- Ability to relate to people meaningfully and to function as a member of the Institutional team.
- Possesses initiative to identify and complete tasks with timeliness and excellence.
- The capability and integrity to function independently.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a record of safe driving and be able to drive extensively (up to six or more hours in a day).

- Consults with the Senior Director in developing an after-care program for young adults attending college on the Western Carolina Campus.
- Provide ongoing daily support through meetings, bible studies, a place to come for help when a student needs adult interaction and support, or a place to study, and have activities.
- Identifies and cultivates a community support network (churches, individuals, groups, etc.) to assist in meeting the needs of college students served.
- Identify, recruit, and train volunteers to help with building maintenance, etc.
- Work with Western Carolina to identify the students who have been in foster care, first generation students, and international students.
- Help these students meet their goal attainment needs to maintain college status.
- Responsible for coordinating with churches, etc. the scheduling of activities at the BSU building at WCU to maximize the outreach to after care plus all college students interested in being involved in Christian ministries, and for maintaining the upkeep of the facility.
- Scheduling/Supervision of the apartments attached to the building for use to after care students.
- Working with after care students in developing plans for spring and summer vacations, etc. when the dorms are closed.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of the Institution’s structures, services, policies and procedures, as well as job performance requirements and related jobs.
- Possesses personal characteristics, which will be evaluated: resourcefulness, initiative, adaptability, decision-making skills, relationship skills, understanding of self, physical energy level, creativity, comprehension, emotional stability, and reliability.
