The Quiltmaker Cafe (TQC) is a non-profit give what you can cafe that is located in downtown Pittsboro. Our mission is to provide community and healthy food for all regardless of means. We have a welcoming and inviting space that provides an opportunity for all people to experience conversation and community while enjoying an excellent, fresh, and healthy meal.

The Manager of Volunteer Engagement represent the values of TQC and be dedicated to the goal of bringing the community together with good food. The Manager of Volunteer Engagement is responsible for overall volunteer management, volunteer program development, and volunteer care.

Principal duties and responsibilities
  • Primarily responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and coordinating the scheduling of volunteers for daily café work. Must supervise volunteers with proper sanitation standards.
  • Effectively communicate organization and cafe updates to volunteers by communicating via email on a regular basis with CORE volunteers.
  • Plan and lead in person trainings with all CORE volunteers.
  • Hold trainings to smaller groups as needed throughout the year.
  • Plan appreciation and engagement events.
  • Develop and expand new volunteer opportunities as appropriate.
  • Act as liason between nonprofit partners using Quiltsquares.

Work with Café Manager in collection and tracking of volunteer data and documents and manage volunteer database software.

Assist in helping staff and volunteer leadership work cooperatively with volunteers.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources field or similar preferred.
  • Proficient in Word, internet and email applications
  • People leadership and management.
  • Effective communication and able to work collaboratively.
  • Able to prioritize.
  • Adaptable, creative, takes initiative and exhibits good leadership
  • Excellent time management skills and organizational skills.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and open to learning new ways of doing things.
