Schedule Details/Additional Information This is a PRN position reporting directly to the APP Manager. Schedules are developed every three months to provide coverage for PTO, FMLA, illness call-outs, and periods of high patient census across multiple Wake Region Hospital Medicine locations. The schedule is subject to change based on operational needs, with changes communicated no later than 6:00 p.m. the day prior, whenever feasible.

The Wake Hospital Medicine team is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to provide flexible inpatient coverage across multiple Wake Region Hospital Medicine locations.

• PRN position supporting Hospital Medicine services throughout the Wake Region.
• Reports directly to the APP Manager.
• Provides coverage for PTO, FMLA, illness call-outs, and periods of high patient census.
• Schedule developed every three months in collaboration with the APP Manager and scheduling team.
• Assignments may include day and swing shifts based on operational needs.
• PRN APPs assigned to a swing shift will not be scheduled for a day shift the following day.
• Schedule may be modified to accommodate unexpected call-outs, emergencies, or changes in patient census, with notice provided no later than 6:00 p.m. the day before whenever feasible.
• Every effort will be made to minimize the number of different services and hospital locations worked within the same week and to provide continuity of patient care assignments.
• Coverage may be assigned at any of the following Wake Region Hospital Medicine locations:
  Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center – Winston-Salem;
  Davie Medical Center – Bermuda Run;
  High Point Medical Center – High Point;
  Lexington Medical Center – Lexington;
  Wilkes Medical Center – North Wilkesboro.
• PRN APPs assigned to Wilkes Medical Center will receive a $100 shift incentive for eligible shifts.

• Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Nurse Practitioners must hold a Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing Practice with Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) board certification.
• Physician Assistants must hold certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); CAQ certification preferred.
• Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in North Carolina.
• Current prescriptive privileges and DEA registration.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association, valid at least 90 days beyond start date.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced inpatient environment.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Flexibility to work across multiple hospital locations and adapt to varying patient care needs.

Specialty Care Advanced Practice Providers provide concentrated services within a designated specialty, caring for both acute and chronically ill patients. The PRN Hospital Medicine APP delivers comprehensive inpatient care while providing flexible staffing support across Wake Region Hospital Medicine locations to ensure continuity of care and operational excellence.

• Perform initial and follow-up medical histories and physical examinations.
