Job Description

Fusion Medical Staffing-Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a 13-week assignment in Edenton, North Carolina. The position involves working 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts as a travel RN. The start date is 08/10/2026. Summary

As a Med Surg Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive care in medical‑surgical and telemetry units. The role requires assessing patient health conditions, monitoring telemetry data, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to manage diverse patient needs. Strong clinical skills, critical thinking, excellent communication and a commitment to patient safety are essential.

Essential Work Functions
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients and families, addressing concerns and ensuring understanding
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in adherence to nursing standards
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ conditions, documenting changes and reporting concerns to the care team
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, assist physicians during treatments, and monitor patient responses
  • Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients recovering from medical conditions or surgical procedures
  • Document comprehensive patient information, including vital signs, medications, treatments, and care outcomes, in the medical record
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
  • Manage multiple patients efficiently, prioritizing care based on acuity and clinical needs
  • Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed, including hand hygiene and PPE use
  • Advocate for patients’ needs and preferences, ensuring they are respected and integrated into the care plan
  • Facilitate discharge planning, coordinating with patients, families, and external resources
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Qualifications
  • One year of recent Med Surg RN experience
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
  • Preferred: NIHSS certification
  • Preferred: ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
  • Other certifications and licenses may be required for this position
Required Core Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong reading, writing, and oral communication in English
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical stamina: remain stationary, move equipment up to 100 lbs, push, pull, bend
  • Interpersonal effectiveness with diverse personnel and professionals
  • Technical/motor skills for fine manipulation and use of department equipment
  • Mental resilience under pressure, working independently and under supervision as needed
  • Visual acuity and clear communication ability
