Location: Granite Falls

Outpatient MAT Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) Seeking LPN Dispensing Nurse

Part‑time hours: 29 hours a week.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 5 AM – 9:30 AM;
Saturday, 6 AM – 8 AM.

Our nursing team provides compassionate, high‑quality, safe and efficient medication dispensing to patients seeking recovery from opioid use disorder.

Your Job as Dispensing Nurse

The LPN is instrumental in our patients’ treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder. The LPN provides high‑quality, safe and efficient dispensing of medication doses under the direction of the Medical Director or Physician and is responsible for thorough, accurate reporting and documentation of patient symptoms, responses and progress.

Your Responsibilities as Dispensing Nurse
  • Work under the supervision of the Medical Director and the Clinic Director
  • Maintain practical nursing professional standards of care
  • Prepare and administer medication as ordered accurately and in a timely manner
  • Keep accurate accounting of all medication received from suppliers and dispensed to patients
  • Chart medication administration in nurse’s notes accurately and promptly
  • Document nursing care provided and maintain appropriate records related to patient progress and activities
  • Safeguard all medication stock and the records required by the DEA, FDA, and ADP
  • Dedicate a minimum of 90 % of regularly scheduled work hours to medication administration activities; the remaining 10 % may be dedicated to other assigned tasks
  • Collect and process urine samples, read test results as ordered by Program Physicians, and complete all related forms

Your Education,

Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Preferred: 1 year of nursing experience in behavioral health, outpatient treatment, or addiction recovery
  • No history of alcohol or other drug misuse for a period of three years prior to employment
Ideal Experience
  • Previous nursing experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional facilities) highly preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with Medication‑Assisted Treatment (MAT), including safe handling, administration, and documentation of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone
  • Experience in medication dispensing, monitoring patient dosing, and observing for adverse reactions or medication interactions
  • Understanding of nursing best practices related to substance‑use treatment, including trauma‑informed care and harm‑reduction principles
  • Accurate and timely documentation of medication administration records, patient vitals, and incident reports in accordance with state and federal guidelines
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (DEA, 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards) related to controlled substances and patient care
  • Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, counselors, case managers, and support staff, to ensure coordinated, patient‑centered care
Licenses/Certifications
  • Current LPN license in the state of North Carolina, or a compact license
