Health Care Technician I (S)
Salary Range: $35,360.00 - $44,620.00
Sign‑on Bonus: $2,000 may be offered to successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025‑2026 Budget Approval.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Health Care Technician I, you will enhance the quality of life and maintain the dignity of our residents. Responsibilities include walking or riding residents on campus, teaching recreational skills, and supporting them with activities of daily living (ADL’s).
This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KA)- Ability to learn principles and practices of health care techniques for nursing assistants
- Ability to learn safety measures
- Ability to recognize patient needs and communicate them accurately
- Ability to learn to follow hospital, unit and nursing policies and procedures
- Ability to work with difficult patients while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment
Experience working with individuals with developmental disorders and/or specialized dementia.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements- Certified as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
- High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- First Shift (6:45 A – 3:15 P): 5% weekend premium
- Second Shift (2:45 P – 11:15 P): 20% weekday & 25% weekend premium
- Third Shift (10:45 P – 7:15 A): 20% weekday & 25% weekend premium
- Newly hired permanent full‑time or permanent part‑time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week.
- Employee cannot have held a position in the North Carolina State government, university system, or previously received a sign‑on bonus within last 12 months.
- Employee cannot have received a contract placement or recruitment fee from DHHS.
