Ridge Valley Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our nursing leadership team as Charge Nurses.
As a Charge Nurse, you will provide exceptional clinical care while leading and supporting nursing staff to ensure the highest standards of resident care. This leadership role is ideal for a nurse who demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive, resident-centered environment.
Position SummaryThe Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an assigned nursing unit during the scheduled shift. This position provides direct resident care, supervises nursing staff, coordinates clinical services, and works collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes and regulatory compliance.
Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide direct nursing care in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and accepted standards of practice.
Supervise and support Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and other nursing personnel during the assigned shift.
Complete resident assessments upon admission, with changes in condition, and as clinically indicated.
Monitor resident conditions and promptly communicate significant changes to physicians, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
Administer medications, treatments, and other clinical interventions safely and accurately.
Ensure timely and accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
Assign resident care responsibilities based on staff competencies and resident needs.
Conduct routine rounds to evaluate resident care, safety, and staff performance.
Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to address clinical concerns, staff performance, resident issues, and family inquiries.
Promote compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations, including infection prevention and quality assurance initiatives.
Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.
Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment that supports exceptional resident care.
Participate in quality improvement activities and other projects as assigned.
Current and unrestricted North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
Current CPR certification.
Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience required; long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
Strong assessment, clinical decision-making, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
Proficiency with electronic health records and standard computer applications is preferred.
