American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery/LDRP position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and AWHONN/NRP certifications.
Details- Work in an LDRP unit with Couplet Care model providing Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby services
- Facility averages 800 births per year
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule from 18:45 to 07:15 with 4x12 hour shifts
- Option for 36 or 48 hour weekly schedules
- 13-week assignment length
- Required to work every other weekend
- Mandatory call requirement of 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule
- Floating required to assist other units as needed
- Uses EPIC EMR, Pyxis medication system, and SBAR communication
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending license accepted at submission
- Current certifications: BLS, AWHONN, and NRP required (ACLS and FHM preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in EFM and use of External and Internal Fetal Monitoring
- Skilled in assisting with sterile speculum exams (effacement, dilation, station, presentation)
- Skilled in recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience providing breastfeeding and lactation support
- Responsibilities include assisting with vaginal and high-risk deliveries, fetal monitoring, and postpartum couplet care
- Provide newborn care including APGAR scoring, cord care, and discharge teaching to parents
- Support patients with conditions such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
- Unit orientation is 32 hours, with weekly orientation scheduling
- Pre-start and annual completion of online modules required, approximately 8-10 hours for this acute care role
- Scrubs required:
Cecil blue hospital-issued scrubs, navy also acceptable - Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
- Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval
- Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, as both are not permitted simultaneously
- Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved if not on a holiday, with no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units with separate transportation
- First-time travelers considered for this position
