Mother Baby Registered Nurse

Mission Health in Asheville, NC is seeking a Mother Baby Registered Nurse to provide compassionate, evidence-based care for postpartum patients and newborns. In this role, you will perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications, support breastfeeding, and educate families on newborn care and postpartum recovery. You will collaborate closely with obstetric, pediatric, and lactation teams in a high-quality, patient-centered environment. • Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum patients and newborns on a Mother Baby unit
• Monitor vital signs, assess recovery, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, treatments, and newborn screenings in accordance with clinical protocols
• Educate parents on newborn care, breastfeeding, safe sleep, and postpartum recovery
• Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and interdisciplinary team members
• Document assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record
• Support family-centered, culturally sensitive care and advocate for patient safety and comfort
• Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and unit-based initiatives
• Precept or mentor new nurses and support staff as needed
• Maintain compliance with infection control, regulatory standards, and hospital policies
• Postpartum nursing care

• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation
• Patient and family education
• Fetal and neonatal safety protocols
• Infection prevention and control
• Lactation and breastfeeding support basics
• Acute care clinical assessment
• Interdisciplinary teamwork and communication

• Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred or obtained after hire
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Experience in postpartum, Mother Baby, or women’s health strongly preferred
