Western Carolina Surgery Center is hiring a FT Pre Op PACU RN!
Western Carolina Surgery Center is a patient-focused ambulatory surgery center dedicated to delivering high-quality outpatient surgical care through advanced technology, clinical excellence, and a collaborative team environment. Conduct thorough preoperative assessments to collect patient medical histories, vital signs, and current medications.
Education:
Educate patients and their families on the surgical process, postoperative care instructions, and any necessary preparations.
Administer prescribed medications, including preoperative sedatives and antibiotics, in accordance with physician orders and best practices.
Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols to minimize the risk of surgical site infections.
Establish and maintain intravenous (IV) lines as required, and monitor fluid and electrolyte balance.
Collaborate closely with the surgical team, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth flow of preoperative preparations.
Provide postoperative care to patients in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), monitoring vital signs, pain levels, and overall well-being.
Advocate for patients’ comfort and safety, managing pain and addressing any immediate postoperative concerns.
Continuously assess patients for signs of complications or adverse reactions, taking prompt action as needed.
Administer postoperative medications, including pain management and antiemetics, while closely monitoring their effects.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, documenting all care provided, observations, and patient responses.
Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patients are ready for discharge and providing discharge instructions.
- Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
- Active RN license in the state
- BLS and ACLS Required, PALS if required by the center
- 2 years of experience in PACU or Critical Care preferred
- Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment
- Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet the needs of patients and the unit
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
