The LPN Department at Person Memorial Hospital offers Licensed Practical Nurses a supportive, patient-focused environment where teamwork and high-quality care are at the center of everything they do. How you'll contributeAs a vital member of our
Licensed Practical Nursing Team
, you will:
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the general supervision of the Department Leader, the Licensed Practical Nurse renders safe nursing care and directs and monitors the nursing care of assigned patients. The LPN administers medications, performs IV therapy and specialized treatments/procedures with advance training and demonstrated proficiency. Assists in supervision and orientation of Nursing Assistants and performs all related duties in an ethical manner.
The LPN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based upon the physical, psycho/social educational safety and related criteria for the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population served.
- Provide direct patient care and monitor physical and psychosocial needs.
- Administer medications, perform IV therapy, venipuncture, and other clinical procedures.
- Prepare patients for surgeries, procedures, and physician examinations.
- Perform assessments, document patient care, and communicate changes to the RN and healthcare team.
- Manage and maintain NG tubes, urinary catheters, and other patient care equipment.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, nutrition, and elimination.
- Assist with emergency situations, including code responses.
- Receive and implement physician orders and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and continued care.
- Supervise and assist Patient Care Technicians while advocating for patient safety and well-being.
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Current LPN license in the state of North Carolina (or compact license)
- Minimum Two (2) years of LPN experience required.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) from an accredited nursing program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the
American Heart Association
