Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg
Job Type: Full Time | Nights
Schedule: 3x12, night shift (7p-7a). Holidays and weekends required.
Sign‑On Bonus: $20,000 for night shift with a 2‑year commitment for eligible candidates.
Job OverviewAt Swain Community Hospital's 14‑bed Medical Surgical Unit, you will provide compassionate care to patients alongside physicians, advanced practitioners, RNs, and CNAs. With a 6:1 nurse‑patient ratio, you will assess and treat patients, document medical necessity, and participate in interdisciplinary care planning. The unit utilizes a self‑scheduling application.
Responsibilities- Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
- Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
- Provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient.
- Perform timely and appropriate documentation related to medical necessity in the medical record.
- Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
- Perform timely and accurate QI assessments.

Applicants should have a current North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license and an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
- One year of experience preferred.
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
