DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of experience and NC or compact RN licensure.
Details- Work in a rural hospital's Obstetrics/Gynecology unit with 12 beds (7 LDRP and 5 overflow)
- Average daily census of 0-6 patients
- Care for OB triage, antepartum, and postpartum patient populations
- Patient ratios of 1:1-2
- 12-hour night shift schedule (7p-7a), 36 hours per week
- Schedule cycle rotates every 6 weeks
- No floating required
- No on-call or call-back requirements
- Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, GE monitors, and NOVII wireless fetal monitoring equipment
- Active RN license (NC or compact) required
- ADN required, BSN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermittent Fetal Monitoring
- Epic EMR experience required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Assess and care for laboring patients throughout labor and delivery
- Assess and treat OB triage patients over 20 weeks gestation
- Assess and care for newborns and postpartum couplets
- Assist NNP in treating and stabilizing newborns
- Circulate in urgent or emergent C-sections
- Unit supported by CNAs on most shifts who act as unit secretaries, patient care techs, and scrub in for emergent C-sections
- Charge nurse assigned each shift, with phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist, and telemetry monitoring support available
- 2 days of unit-based orientation provided
- Unit culture centered around strong teamwork, continuity, and safe, patient-centered care
- RTO approved if requested in advance
- No set holiday schedule, but travelers expected to assist with holiday coverage when needed
- Purple scrubs provided by facility
- Employee parking available on-site
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
- Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position

The $2,182 weekly pay shown in this posting, along with related figures, corresponds to the higher end of this range. Weekly travel pay includes tax-free stipends per IRS guidelines. Weekly local pay is fully taxable and therefore lower due to additional employer-paid taxes and related costs.
