Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Long Term Care

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Long-Term Care unit requiring 2 years of experience, LTAC experience, and Point Click Care  proficiency.

• Active NC or Compact RN license required (pending license/certs OK for submission)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• LTAC experience required
• Point Click Care  charting experience required
• Skilled nursing/rehabilitation experience required in lieu of travel experience for first-time travelers
• Experience with wound care, ostomy/feeding tube management, foley catheter insertion, IV therapy, and chronic disease management (diabetes, COPD, cardiac conditions)
• Experience with fall risk assessment, infection control, and pain management
• Community hospital, teaching hospital, trauma level I/II, and prior charge experience preferred
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years (pending references acceptable at submission)

• Long-term care (nursing home/skilled rehabilitation) setting for a geriatric patient population
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 36 hours per week (18:45-07:15)
• 13-week contract with option for longer assignments
• Staffing ratio of 1:20 (up to 1:40 during lower-acuity periods)
• Two nurses on the unit from 7p-11p, dropping to one nurse overnight, supported by 2 CNAs
• On-call MD available after hours
• Every other weekend required
• No call requirement
• No floating requirement
• Uses Point Click Care  for documentation and SBAR for communication
• Provide nursing care to a geriatric resident population with low acuity needs, including feeding tubes, foley catheters, and medication management
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, with hospital orientation occurring in week one requiring daily class attendance
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Travel pairs are allowed if placed on different units with separate schedules and own transportation
• First-time travelers considered if they have skilled nursing facility experience
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details
• Pre-start modules (approximately 4-5 hours for non-acute roles) must be completed prior to start and annually
