Position Summary
The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus. The responsibilities include the application of fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides; tree and shrub pruning; maintenance of flowering plants, shrubs and trees; mowing large turf areas; and operation of tools, equipment and machinery used in landscaping, grounds maintenance and snow removal. This position serves as a working crew leader providing daily hands-on supervision of the crew in carrying out routine and non-routine landscape or other tasks.
Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Candidate must have knowledge and experience of grounds maintenance tasks including application of fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides; be skilled in the operation of large grounds maintenance equipment; ability to understand and carry out oral and written work assignments; ability to supervise and delegate responsibilities to assigned employees to get assignments completed; experience in planting, cultivation and care of shrubs, trees, plants and turf of this region;
have a valid NC Commercial Driver s License and a valid NC Pesticide Applicators License; be in good physical condition capable of performing manual labor tasks and lifting 100 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Training and Education at the entry level:
Graduation from High School or possession of a GED, and one year of experience in the area assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
