Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety
Safety Manager
This position provides safety leadership and strategic direction by leading the plant's continuous safety improvement initiatives. As a key member of the Plant Management Team, the role supports and advises site leadership on the Safety Management System and drives efforts to create a sustainable, safe, and healthy work environment.
Responsibilities include developing and executing a proactive safety strategy; contributing to the plant's safety vision through the enhancement of existing programs and implementation of new initiatives; and actively working to prevent and reduce safety, health, and medical incidents. This role also fosters a strong safety culture aligned with company values and serves as a change agent to promote best practices across the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage site safety programs
- Recommend and implement initiatives to minimize workplace incidents and associated losses
- Monitor and measure program effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company ergonomic programs
- Inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure regulatory compliance
- Maintain OSHA documentation and support records
- Accompany OSHA inspectors during site visits
- Conduct regular facility audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Identify potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions
- Analyze incident data to identify trends and implement preventive measures
- Communicate safety policies and procedural updates to leadership and staff
- Ensure all safety policies and procedures are reviewed and updated annually or as required
Additional duties include conducting safety audits and field inspections; taking immediate corrective action when necessary; delivering training on topics such as ergonomics, emergency response, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment; and investigating all safety-related incidents, completing required reports for insurance, risk management, and corporate safety.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience - Experience:
3+ years of progressive experience in environmental health, safety, or sustainability management preferred; strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, accident investigation, and safety training methods; familiarity with PSM and RMP practices preferred - Computer
Skills:
Proficiency in standard computer applications - Communication
Skills:
Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
Special
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and government regulations; strong written communication skills required.

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, or as needed - Work Conditions:
Exposure to both indoor and outdoor environments; may include dusty conditions, strong odors, and other typical plant-related environmental factors - Frequent internal safety audits are conducted
