Sewing Inspector

Shenandoah Furniture is a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation

Hooker Furnishings, in its 101st year of business, is a designer, marketer and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture and fabric‑upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality and contract markets. Shenandoah’s artisans have been crafting high‑quality upholstered seating since 1981.

The Position:

We are looking for a dependable individual with strong attention to detail to join our team as a Sewing Inspector in our Valdese, NC location. This individual will:

Collect and visually inspect leather and fabric sewn covers.

Inspect parts for completion and sewing quality.

Turn cushion covers and inspect seams, pull strip placement, and overall construction.

Identify defects in sewing, fabric, or leather.

Read and separate special notification or acknowledgment orders as required.

Organize inspected covers in racks for Upholstery and Cushion departments.

Retrieve necessary components for inspection.

Maintain good housekeeping practices to prevent slips, trips, and falls.

Use appropriate PPE, including safety glasses.

Candidates that will be a great fit will:

Have strong attention to detail and quality standards.

Have the ability to perform repetitive tasks, including bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, and wrist movements for extended periods.

Be capable of standing and walking for the entire duration of the shift.

Be able to lift up to 20 pounds from floor level to waist height up to 60 times per shift.

Be able to lower up to 20 pounds from waist height to floor level up to 60 times per shift.

Shift: Monday to Friday 6:30 am – 4:00 pm and Fridays 6:30 am – 10:30 am
