Job Description

We are looking for a talented Quality Inspector
- Level II
to join our team specializing in Quality for our Cummins Inc. facility in Rocky Mount, NC.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Guaranteeing Product Quality - You'll ensure every product meets technical specifications, safeguarding customer satisfaction and brand reputation.
  • Preventing Defects from Reaching Customers - By identifying and segregating non-conforming products, you'll reduce costly returns and maintain trust.
  • Maintaining Compliance - Your adherence to company norms and standards ensures regulatory and internal compliance, protecting the organization from risks.
  • Driving Process Accuracy - Through precise measurements and comparisons, you'll uphold consistency in production, minimizing variability.
  • Improving Operational Efficiency - By documenting defects and trends, you'll provide valuable insights that help optimize processes and reduce waste.
  • Building Team Capability - Training others on measurement techniques and documentation strengthens overall team performance and quality culture.
  • Supporting Continuous Improvement - Your feedback on recurring issues will help engineering and production teams refine designs and processes.
  • Acting as a Quality Gatekeeper - As the final checkpoint before products reach customers, your role is critical in delivering excellence and reliability.
Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:
  • Action-Oriented - Approach challenges with urgency and enthusiasm to quickly resolve quality issues and keep production moving.
  • Collaboration - Partner effectively with production teams, engineers, and quality specialists to achieve shared quality objectives.
  • Effective Communication - Clearly convey inspection results, defect trends, and training instructions to different audiences (operators, supervisors, management).
  • Customer Focus - Understand how quality impacts customer satisfaction and prioritize solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Decision Quality - Make timely, well-informed decisions when identifying defects or approving products for shipment.
  • Conflict Management - Handle disagreements about quality standards or corrective actions calmly and constructively.
  • Resourcefulness - Use available tools and equipment efficiently while finding creative solutions to measurement or process challenges.
  • Values Differences - Respect diverse perspectives within the team and leverage them to improve quality processes.
  • Measurement Science (Metrology) - Apply advanced measurement techniques to ensure accuracy and traceability across chemical, dimensional, electrical, mechanical, and optical domains.
  • Quality Process Management - Use tools like APQP, FMEA, PPAP, SPC, and capability studies to maintain and improve product quality.
  • Laboratory Management - If applicable, manage technical resources and ensure compliance with certifications and accreditations for testing environments.
Education:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:
Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.

Qualifications
  • Role is 100% onsite
  • Responsible for working cross-functionally to perform interim and final inspection of product at RMEP
  • Inspection activities include visual inspection, inspection gages and fixtures, cameras, blacklight inspection, etc.
  • Should be able to demonstrate a willingness to develop engine component recognition and show capability to collaborate with different groups to complete tasks
  • Should be willing to support minor repair activities as needed and support contingent shipping deadlines
  • Collaborate with training and operations teams to provide feedback and help prevent defects
