Description

Job Summary:

As a Quality Control (QC) Technician for a utility-scale solar electrical subcontractor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet the required quality standards and specifications. You will conduct inspections, perform tests, and document findings to support the successful completion of solar projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections of electrical, mechanical, and civil systems to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Perform electrical testing and verification of system performance, including measurements of electrical termination and mechanical equipment torque specifications.
  • Maintain detailed records of quality control activities, including inspection reports, test results, and non-conformance reports.
  • Identify and report quality issues promptly, working with the QC Manager and site managers to implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all quality control activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Provide training and support to other team members on quality control procedures and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a quality control technician or in a similar role, preferably in solar or electrical construction.
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code (NEC) requirements and electrical systems used in solar projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and project plans.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA 10 or OSHA 30; additional certifications in quality management (e.g., ISO 9001) are a plus.

Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and Carrying:
    Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Standing and Walking:
    Prolonged periods of standing and walking across uneven terrain.
  • Climbing:
    Climbing ladders and scaffolding to access different parts of the installation.
  • Bending and Stooping:
    Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to install and inspect components.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling tools and small components.
  • Weather Conditions:
    Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
  • Safety Gear:
    Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
