** About the Role*
* Join our Roxboro Gypsum Wallboard team as a  
** Quality and Process Control Technician I** , where you will play a hands-on role in ensuring our products meet customer expectations, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. In this role, you will support day-to-day lab testing, plant-floor quality checks, documentation, product hold activities, and continuous improvement efforts. This is a great opportunity for a detail-oriented candidate who enjoys problem solving, working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and partnering with production and technical teams to help deliver safe, consistent, high-quality products.

** Position Purpose*
* The Quality and Process Control Technician I supports the production of gypsum wallboard by performing raw material, process, and finished product testing; maintaining accurate quality documentation; supporting corrective actions; and helping identify trends or issues that may impact product quality or process performance.

** Key Areas of Focus*
* + Perform daily quality testing and process control checks for gypsum wallboard production.

+ Support QC Hold testing, documentation, product movement, and disposition activities.

+ Escalate critical quality concerns to the QPC Manager and/or appropriate supervisor.

+ Monitor, collect, and test raw materials to support investigations and process stability.

+ Support third-party testing, analytical samples, product qualifications, and benchmark testing.

+ Assist with quality audits, operator qualification support, and training on proper testing methods.

+ Help identify process changes, quality trends, defects, and opportunities for improvement.

+ Support control charting, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action efforts.

+ Partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and plant teams on trials, investigations, and improvement projects.

+ Maintain strong housekeeping, 5S, safety, and quality practices in the QA lab and work areas.

** Core Responsibilities*
* + Conduct routine product testing to ensure manufacturing specifications are maintained.

+ Complete required QC Hold testing and support accurate documentation of held product.

+ Report quality concerns promptly and assist with timely corrective action.

+ Support testing and reporting for qualifications, analytical samples, competitive benchmarks, and third-party requests.

+ Assist with raw material testing and investigations related to material or process concerns.

+ Maintain lab supplies and complete administrative tasks to support the QPC department.

+ Assist with defective product claim investigations, root cause identification, and reaction plans.

+ Support troubleshooting resources for common process or product defects.

+ Participate in WCM, Lean, Six Sigma, safety, and continuous improvement activities.

+ Maintain accurate, organized, and timely quality records and reports.

** Qualifications*
* + High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

+ Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.

+ Minimum one year of forklift experience required.

+ Manufacturing experience preferred.

+ Familiarity with manufacturing safety programs and Lean manufacturing practices preferred.

+ Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills required.

** Working Conditions*
* + This is an on-site role supporting both plant and lab environments. Work is primarily performed indoors, with limited outside work as needed.

+ Ability to work a rotating 12.5-hour day/night shift schedule in an on-site manufacturing environment. Flexibility is required to support 24/7 operations.

+ Work may include dry and dusty conditions at times.

+ Plant and lab temperatures may vary based on outside weather conditions; heaters and fans are used throughout the facility to help maintain a comfortable work environment.

** Physical Demands & Work Environment*
* + Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on a manufacturing floor.

+ Ability to frequently communicate, read, write, and monitor production processes and equipment.

+ Ability to perform repetitive motions and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

+ Ability to occasionally climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds.

+ Ability to work around manufacturing equipment and machinery in both indoor and outdoor environments.

+ Comfortable working in varying temperatures, dusty conditions, and other industrial manufacturing environments.
