Position SummaryThe Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist supports site-level safety culture and compliance by leading assigned EHS programs and helping strengthen day-to-day EHS execution at their facility. This role partners with cross-functional site leadership to identify risk, strengthen compliance activities, improve safety systems, and promote proactive employee engagement under the guidance of the Sr EHS Manager. The EHS Specialist leads or supports routine incident investigations, job safety analysis (JSAs), risk assessments, training development and delivery, audit follow-up, and corrective action tracking based on scope and severity, while escalating complex regulatory, high-risk, or unresolved matters to the Sr EHS Manager.

General Duties/Responsibilities- EHS Program Execution, Risk Management, and Compliance
- Lead routine safety inspections and audits; document findings, recommend corrective actions, track completion, and verify closure in partnership with area leaders
- Lead or support investigations of workplace incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions based on severity; facilitate root cause analysis and recommend preventive actions in partnership with site leadership
- Lead job safety analyses (JSAs) and risk assessments for new and existing processes; recommend practical controls to reduce risk
- Maintain EHS documentation for training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions; review records for completeness, accuracy, and audit readiness
- Support and improve assigned OSHA, SQF, and other applicable compliance activities; identify gaps, recommend corrective actions, and elevate unresolved or high-risk items to the Sr EHS Manager
- Prepare, analyze, and present safety performance metrics and updates to site leadership and the Senior EHS Manager; identify trends and recommend continuous improvement actions
- Coordinate and lead assigned environmental compliance activities and elevate risks as needed
- Coordinate and maintain the site PPE program, including inventory oversight and distribution
- Coordinate emergency response preparedness activities and conduct regular drills in partnership with site leadership; document outcomes and track follow-up activities
- Facilitate site safety committee activities and employee engagement initiatives that promote proactive safety behaviors
- Partner with all departments to coach safe work practices, support adherence to EHS procedures, and elevate gaps when needed
- Serve as a site EHS resource for questions related to EHS procedures; coach employees and leaders while encouraging open communication about safety
- Follow GMP policy when in the production facility and encourage your team to do the same.
- Understand our SQF policies relating to pest control, visitors, allergen management, and cleaning and sanitation.
- Demonstrate awareness of Management's Commitment to SQF and work towards Food Safety and Quality and help the company meet this commitment.
- If there is a problem that involves food quality and safety, report to the Quality Assurance Manager so that the CAPA (corrective action, preventative action) log may be filled out, the situation be investigated, and resolved with the goal of continuous improvement of food quality and safety.
