Junior Researcher (M/F) in the Area of Ecology, Conservation and Habitat Restoration - 1 Position Available
The Centro de Ciências do Mar do Algarve (CCMAR) is opening a recruitment and selection procedure for one Junior Researcher position (M/F) in the field of Ecology, Conservation and Habitat Restoration, open to candidates of any nationality, including stateless persons, under an uncertain term employment contract, with the aim of recruiting and selecting the best candidate to carry out activities within the framework of the project .

Large-scale conservation and restoration of critically threatened seagrass habitat on Atlantic infralittoral sand and coastal lagoons, funded by the European Commission, under the following conditions:

With a multidisciplinary team, well-equipped facilities, and laboratories, CCMAR engages in core areas such as research, training, business, societal engagement, and collaboration.
2. Summary and Functions:
We are seeking a Junior Researcher to carry out research and development activities in the fields of Seagrass Ecology, Conservation and Restoration.
The selected candidate is expected to undertake the following tasks:

- Regulatory Decree No. 11-A/2017, of December 29;
- Labour Code, approved by Law No. 7/2009, of February 12, in its current version.

Start Date:
The contract is expected to start in August 2026.
5. Workplace:
Activities will occur at CCMAR (University of Algarve, Faro, Portugal) and other locations necessary for the development of tasks within the project.

Working Hours:
35 hours per week.
7. Monthly Salary:
The gross base monthly salary is €2 408,11 (TRU 33) plus inclusion in the CCMAR group life insurance policy and the possibility of enrolling in the CCMAR group health insurance, co-financed at 50% by CCMAR and 50% by the employee.

9. Required Profile:
The selected candidate must:
1. Hold a PhD degree in Biological Sciences or a related field, awarded within the last five years.
2. Have a record of scientific publications in areas relevant to the project.
3. Demonstrate proven professional experience in the ecology, conservation and restoration of seagrass species and habitats, including lagoon habitats dominated by Ruppia spp.
4. Be fluent in both Portuguese and English.
The following qualifications and experience will be considered advantageous:
1. Experience in fieldwork, including habitat mapping, environmental monitoring, and seagrass monitoring.
2. Taxonomic expertise, particularly in the identification of fauna associated with seagrass meadows.
3. Experience in biodiversity data management.
4. Participation in working groups focused on nature conservation and/or seagrass conservation.
5. Experience in outreach, public engagement and citizen science activities.
