Canyon Kitchen is an extraordinary seasonal farm to table restaurant located in Cashiers, NC, one of the most beautiful natural settings in the country. We source much of our produce from our own gardens and other food items from only the finest regional markets. Our atmosphere is refined yet relaxed, offering fanciful southern cuisine to discerning guests.

Assistant Pastry Chef Position SummaryThe Assistant Pastry Chef will produce a variety of scratch breads and pastry items created daily for dinner service, banquets and food truck outlet while working closely with the Pastry Chef to develop menus and create new dishes.
Assistant Pastry Chef Primary Responsibilities- Ability to work independently and understand baking techniques
- Ensures the highest standards of service and quality are met daily
- Assist with weekly and monthly inventories
- Collaborates and interacts cohesively with all management and other department leaders
- Works in harmony with Pastry Chef for menu development and restaurant execution
- Knowledge and understanding of use of kitchen equipment including mixers, ovens, and stoves
- Upholds uniform standards, personal appearance and hygiene
- Assist Pastry Chef with weekly and monthly inventory
- Uphold, educate others, and enhance passion of Pastry Arts
- Understanding of the steps of bread making and classical French pastry techniques
- Firm knowledge of mixing doughs and batters
- Able to lift 50 pounds, as necessary
- Knowledge of safety procedures and policies
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain a clean and sanitary work environment
- Skilled in communicating effectively to employees, guests and residents
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to work weekends and holidays, as necessary
- Minimum of two years baking and pastry experience
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
