Dining Service Associate position located at a higher education setting. Responsibilities include preparing and serving food to students, teachers, and parents in accordance with daily menu and recipe standards. This role may also include cashier, float, or runner duties as operational needs require. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students and educators and has a superior customer service orientation.
Essential Responsibilities- Make menu items pursuant to recipes and prepare raw foodstuffs for cooking.
- Cook and assemble all menu items pursuant to specifications.
- Follow the lead of the Culinary Lead and coordinate with the kitchen team at all times.
- Operate the POS system and handle cash/card/account payments accurately when assigned cashier duties.
- Float between stations (prep, service, cashier) to provide coverage as needed.
- Run food, supplies, and equipment between kitchen and service/dining areas, and restock service lines as a runner.
- Stock, organize, and maintain clean kitchen and service areas, including cooking utensils.
- Interact with scholars and teachers to provide excellent service.
- Alert Culinary Lead of any workplace problems.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
- Must be flexible and team-oriented.
- 1-3 years of food or customer service experience/training in a mid-high volume food service facility or restaurant.
- Comfortable rotating between multiple roles (cashier, float, runner) as business needs require.
- Prior cash handling or POS experience preferred.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and level-headedness.
- Punctual and able to adhere to the time and attendance policy.
- Able to climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
