Pay Range

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $21.00 - $23.00. The full pay range for this position per hour is $21.00 - $35.70.

About Specialty Sales

Specialty consultants meet guests where they are and deliver strong operations, guest experience, and visual merchandising. Teams in Apparel and Accessories, Home, Baby, Core Beauty and Electronics prioritize guest experience while ensuring products are available and easy to shop.

Role Overview

As a Specialty Sales Team Leader, no two days are ever the same. Typical responsibilities include creating an easy and inspiring guest experience, training team members, managing metrics, leading daily workload, coaching staff, managing visuals and merchandising, ensuring safety, and occasionally assuming store‑level leadership on duty.

Responsibilities
  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring and friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target's guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
  • Provide feedback and hold team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
  • Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align team on the right behaviors and execution.
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience.
  • Value inclusivity, diversity, and equity, creating equitable experiences.
  • Plan daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
  • Lead and demonstrate a culture of best practices with onboarding, coaching, and development.
  • Develop, coach, and lead a team of knowledgeable consultants.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic patterns.
  • Encourage team to use department tools to provide personalized recommendations.
  • Partner with third‑party vendors to ensure brand standards and merchandising are met.
  • Support team execution of visual presentations and merchandising updates.
  • Create inspiring visual moments that support seasonal trends.
  • Support backroom and replenishment processes to ensure product availability.
  • Participate in team hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Prioritize the fit‑room experience by ensuring it is welcoming, clean, and safe.
  • Set clear goals and hold team members accountable.
  • Model and enforce a culture of safety, security, and compliance.
  • Assume store‑level leadership on duty as needed.
  • Address all store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick‑up, and Drive‑up while maintaining compliance culture.
  • Perform additional duties based on business needs.
Qualifications & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Lead and hold others accountable.
  • Communicate effectively on multiple devices and operate handheld scanners.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Show welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment.
Additional Requirements
  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
  • Interpret instructions, reports and information.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
  • Climb ladders as needed.
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, lifting up to 44 pounds.
  • Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Work in varying temperatures and humidity.
  • Stay mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.
