The General Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership role located at Honda of Indian Trail in Indian Trail, NC. This role oversees the new and pre-owned vehicle sales operations, including daily supervision of the sales team, monitoring performance metrics, and guiding staff to achieve volume, gross, and customer satisfaction goals. The General Sales Manager develops and implements sales strategies, sets pricing and incentives in coordination with dealership leadership, and ensures inventory is merchandised effectively online and in the showroom.
Responsibilities include coaching and training sales consultants, leading sales meetings, managing deal structures, and supporting finance and insurance processes to ensure compliance and profitability. The role also involves engaging with customers to resolve escalated concerns, maintaining adherence to manufacturer standards and dealership policies, and collaborating with other departments such as service, parts, and marketing to deliver a consistent and high-quality customer experience.
- Experience leading automotive or retail sales teams, with demonstrated ability to set goals, manage performance, and coach staff to achieve sales targets.
- Strong skills in sales strategy, lead management, and customer relationship building, including familiarity with CRM systems and modern sales processes.
- Ability to analyze sales reports, market trends, and inventory data to make informed pricing, merchandising, and staffing decisions.
- Knowledge of dealership operations, finance and insurance processes, and compliance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively across departments.
- Proficiency with digital tools used in automotive retail, including online listings, digital retailing platforms, and basic office software.
- Prior experience as a Sales Manager or similar leadership role in an automotive dealership strongly preferred.
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, management, or related field is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site, including evenings and weekends as required by dealership hours, and maintain a professional, customer-focused demeanor.
