Job Title Biology Lab Assistant (Federal Work Study)
Job Description
This position is located at the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe, working under the direction of the Biology instructor.
- Assisting biology faculty with lab preparation and cleanup
- Washing and organizing glassware and lab equipment
- Preparing basic lab materials and supplies
- Stocking/distributing consumables for labs
- Assisting with microbiology media prep and sterilization procedures under supervision
- Maintaining organization of prep rooms and storage areas
- Helping set up microscopes, models, dissections, and lab stations
- Assisting students during lab times when appropriate
- Following laboratory safety and aseptic technique procedures
- Light inventory and supply management
- Supporting science outreach events and departmental activities as needed
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully.
- Dependable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Completion of one science course and lab with an interest in laboratory work and biology preferred.
Physical Demands Special Conditions Eligibility SummaryStudents must have completed a current year’s FAFSA , be eligible for Federal Financial Aid, be enrolled at South Piedmont Community College, be making Satisfactory Academic Progress ( GPA of 2.000 or higher, a completion rate of 67% or higher, not exceeding the maximum timeframe of 150%) to apply.
