Position: FIRE CHIEF (NGT6329000) with Security Clearance

Duties DUTIES:
As a FIRE CHIEF (NGT
6329000), GS-0081-12, you will serve as the Fire Chief responsible for the overall management and supervision of the fire protection/crash rescue and fire prevention program for the base. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
* May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
* Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
* Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate SECRET security clearance within ONE (1) year of appointment.
* Continued employment in this position is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the mandatory training specifically identified for the position.
* Continued employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of the physical examination and periodic medical evaluation thereafter.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain the Government Travel Credit Card (GTC) as a condition of employment.
* Must possess a valid Puerto Rico State driver's license to operate government motor vehicle in accordance with Service specific Vehicle Operations Directives.
* This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
* Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
* Position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration and will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
* Federal employees currently serving in the excepted service (Title 32) must acknowledge they will voluntarily leave the Title 32 excepted service by accepting an offer of employment for this NG Title 5 excepted service position.
* Incumbent is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing may be a condition of employment when on the job announcement.
* Drug testing will only occur once a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
* Incumbent may work a minimum 56 or 60-hour week with supervisor's approval and is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week unless TDY or on leave.
* Incumbent required to participate in a physical fitness program and pass an annual physical.
* Positions, involving firefighting duties or other duties involving arduous physical exertion, may be subject to periodic medical examinations following appointment to determine fitness for continued performance of the duties of the position.
* This position meets criteria for secondary/administrative coverage under special retirement coverage provisions in that it requires prior experience in a primary or equivalent outside experience as a prerequisite.
* Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete an online Onboarding process. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: HRO MUST process and clear the Department of Defense (DoD), Priority Placement Program (PPP), prior to advertising all internal and external job vacancies and promotion announcements. AREA 1 = All permanent employee's members (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard AREA 2 = All indefinite employee's members (NG T32/NG T5) within Puerto Rico Air National Guard AREA 3 = Currently serving members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard (M-Day) AREA 4 = Prior (former) members of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard AREA 5 = Current Federal Employees (from any agency) AREA 7 = US Citizens First round consideration will be given to Area 1 Candidates.

(All other Areas will be screened only in the event that there are no qualified or recommended Candidates).
