Work Schedule:
0–30 hours per week, flexible, rotating shift (planned 11 months per year).
- Conduct hourly patrols of university buildings and grounds; secure rooms and premises during shifts, after business hours, and during special events.
- Identify and report facility problems (e.g., water leaks, electrical issues, inoperable doors, fire hazards, lights out) to the supervisor or complete a condition report.
- Respond to and investigate alarm activations, determining the problem and notifying the appropriate authorities.
- Act as liaison between faculty, staff, and students, maintaining a professional demeanor and providing information on university policies.
- Comply with departmental regulations and policies, document leave requests and timesheets, maintain and wear uniform and equipment, and assist in keeping the workplace secure and orderly.
- Assist with special events, including general security, foot and vehicle patrol, access control, metal detector setup, parking, traffic control, and other duties as assigned.
- Provide motorists assistance per protocol and contact telecommunications when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the shift supervisor to meet university goals.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license.
- Prior experience in security or protection work preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle emergency situations.
