Hours vary based on scheduled University events, special events, and departmental staffing needs. Assignments may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Assignments and hours may vary and are dependent upon the needs and hours of operation of Campbell University. This is an auxiliary position, and hours are not guaranteed.

Position Summary

The Part-Time Auxiliary Event Officer supports the daily and special-event operations of the Campbell University Campus Safety Department. This position provides supplemental staffing for scheduled University events, special events, and emergency staffing situations without tying up regularly assigned Security Officer positions.

The Auxiliary Event Officer assists with maintaining a safe, orderly, and welcoming campus environment for students, employees, visitors, and guests. This position works closely with Campus Safety personnel and other University departments to provide security and safety support during events and periods of increased staffing needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide security coverage for University events, athletic events, special programs, and other campus activities.
  • Monitor assigned buildings, entrances, exits, parking areas, and event locations.
  • Maintain a visible security presence throughout assigned areas.
  • Assist with crowd control, pedestrian traffic, and vehicle traffic as needed.
  • Provide directions and assistance to students, employees, visitors, and guests.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, policy violations, and emergencies.
  • Immediately notify Campus Safety Communications of situations requiring additional assistance or emergency response.
  • Assist with securing and monitoring restricted, designated, or controlled-access areas during events.
  • Support regularly assigned Campus Safety personnel during large events, special activities, and emergency staffing situations.
  • Assist with opening, securing, and monitoring University facilities when assigned.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies within the scope of the position and established Campus Safety procedures.
  • Complete incident reports and other required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain professional conduct, appearance, and communication while representing Campbell University.
  • Follow all Campbell University and Campus Safety Department policies, procedures, rules, and directives.
  • Attend required departmental meetings and training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military service, public safety, event security, customer service, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a college or university environment is preferred.
Required Qualifications and Conditions of Employment
  • Must successfully complete and pass the required F1/F2 physical examination/medical clearance
    .
  • Must successfully complete and pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to report for scheduled assignments.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, courteously, and professionally with students, employees, visitors, and members of the public.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and established departmental procedures.
  • Must be able to remain calm and exercise sound judgment during stressful or emergency situations.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as cooperatively with Campus Safety personnel and other University departments.
