Position: Maintenance Technician - 2nd & 3rd Shift (Relocation)
Location: Tar Heel

Position Overview

Maintenance Mechanic at Smithfield responsible for preventing downtime through routine maintenance, equipment repair, and support of production and quality teams.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on production lines.
  • Set up, inspect, and test machinery for proper operation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
  • Dismantle and repair malfunctioning machinery, replace parts as needed.
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain bearings, gears, shafts, and other components.
  • Assist production and quality teams with troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Repair and maintain physical plant structure to keep it safe and organized.
  • Follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout and GMPs.
  • Document work orders and write daily reports.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and 1+ year related experience, or 4 years direct experience.
  • Vocational or associate degree in technical maintenance preferred.
  • Experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, gear lifts, scissor lifts or other powered industrial trucks.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and apply work orders and equipment manuals.
  • Valid driver's license recommended.
