AboutThis Opportunity
The Mechanic Technician performs skilled diagnostic and mechanical repairs on over 1700 pieces of rolling stock, to include gas and diesel powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy equipment, lawn mowers, boats, trailers, and more. This position also works on small engines such as weed eaters, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, pumps, and sprayers. Work involves preventative maintenance services (oil and lube), tire repair and replacement, North Carolina inspections, AC repairs, electrical diagnostic and repairs, suspension diagnostic, repair and wheel alignment, gearbox, gear drive, track replacement, differential repair, replacement and setup, hydraulic pumps and lines, hydraulic controls, weld, and prep work, machining drums and rotors, precision measurements, engine rebuild and replacement, transmission diagnostic and replacement, security gate repairs, gas site maintenance and operation of wrecker.
The Mechanic Technician proactively seeks information to diagnose and repair intermittent/problematic issues, to include identifying root cause failure and mitigation techniques. This position serves as a mentor and assists other mechanics in all technical aspects of the job and maintains daily operations of the shop in the absence of the Lead Mechanic. Requires proficient computer skills to maintain accurate records.
And Experience
Graduation from vocational/technical school with course work in automotive mechanics plus five (5) to seven (7) years of experience as an automotive or heavy equipment mechanic; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- North Carolina Vehicle Safety Inspection License required within one (1) year of employment.
- Class A CDL required within one (1) year of employment.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including engine analyzers, metal lathes, hoists, acetylene torches, bench grinders, voltage meters, ohmmeters, hand tools, etc. Must be physically able to operate a variety of motor vehicles. Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Requires the ability to climb, reach and/or stretch arms, legs or other parts of body to grasp objects. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
