Southern Industrial Constructors seeks a Maintenance Mechanic for an on‑going site in the West Jefferson, NC area. This is a second shift position: 2:00 pm ‑ 10:30 pm. Hired candidates will be considered for benefits / paid time off after 3 months.

• Perform daily PMs as scheduled for equipment at the site.
• Repair and maintain equipment in accordance with OEM specifications, including machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, ball screws, and PLCs for production equipment.
• Diagnose and repair a variety of plant equipment and systems.
• Diagnose equipment failure and institute action to return equipment to normal operations.
• Apply knowledge of electrical controls and power distribution.
• Apply knowledge of compressed air, HVAC, and domestic water systems.
• Maintain records and logs as needed.
• Apply knowledge of safety standards and precautions for plant maintenance and repair work.
• Complete all safety and general job training as required by SIC.
• Observe SIC/Client safety processes and procedures at all times.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized working environment.
• Perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

2‑year degree in Electrical/Machine Technology or a similar technology degree plus 5 years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician, OR 10+ years’ experience as an industrial maintenance mechanic, OR a 2‑year degree in machine technology or a similar technology degree will be considered as an entry‑level position.

• May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working on ladders, and in awkward body positions.
• Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment.
• Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position.
• Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools.

• Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, freezers, and warehouses with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
