Position Summary

The primary location of this position is on the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

The position's tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing physically demanding work including moving of heavy equipment, furniture, and materials; perform pressure washing, assist the recycling program, conduct setups for special events, respond to emergency calls as needed, operation of tools, equipment, and machinery utilized by the various trades shops, and other duties including repairing and assisting with various renovation projects and events that may be assigned.

Normal working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Schedule adjustments, weekend and holiday work, responding to after hours and weekend emergencies as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

The successful position holder must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Be in good physical condition, capable of performing manual labor tasks in a variety of situations and conditions; have a general knowledge of the plumbing, electric, carpentry, and automotive related trades; possess a demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relations with other employees and departments; must be able to follow both oral and written instructions, and be able to perform medium-to-heavy physical work;

be able to safely and effectively move and operate commercial pressure washers, etc.; be capable of safely climbing ladders, including 6ft and 12ft ladders, working from a lift or bucket truck or other elevated platforms, and be able to work on roofs at heights of approximately 100 ft.; must be able to move,…
