Journeyman Civil Carpenter/Concrete

Perform a wide range of carpentry and concrete work for new construction projects, including LNG storage facility. Responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood and other materials, using hand and power tools while ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and standards. Additionally, smooth and finishes surfaces of poured concrete foundations, floors, walls, sidewalks, and curbs to specified textures using tools such as floats, trowels, and screeds.

Typical duties include actively supporting the company's commitment to safety and its core values, always representing the company with high moral standards, receiving and understanding instructions regarding work assignments, interpreting part and assembly drawings, planning sequences of operations, making calculations for material requirements, selecting suitable materials and tools, spreading concrete, leveling and shaping freshly poured concrete, finishing concrete surfaces, molding expansion joints, producing rough concrete surfaces, mixing concrete, directing sub-grade work, setting up and operating woodworking tools, using a variety of hand tools, performing a wide variety of carpentry work, building forms and installing reinforcing rods, locating and installing prefabricated parts, dismantling, erecting and repairing roofing, erecting scaffolds, keeping the working area clean, identifying safety hazards, and performing all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Skills, knowledge, qualifications, and experience include a minimum of four years' experience as a civil carpenter/concrete finisher in refinery, chemical, petrochemical, or similar plant construction or maintenance, knowledge of civil concrete and carpenter tools, experience in building and installing formwork for concrete pours, ability to pass the carpenter skills test or complete the NCCER certification, completion of Matrix Service safety training and client/site specific training, and ability to obtain and maintain active status within the DISA drug testing program.

Physical/special requirements include the ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and work from elevated or uneven surfaces, standing and walking for extended periods of time, working in confined spaces, frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping, occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers, pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing a minimum of 35 pounds to a maximum of 100 pounds, visual ability sufficient to perform job duties, and travel and overtime may be required.
