**** This position is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient and cost-effective installation and maintenance of natural gas facilities and appurtenances on both transmission and distribution natural gas systems per 49

CFR Part 192, Piedmont Natural Gas policies and procedures and local/state regulations.

The Gas Distribution Specialist position serves as the entry point in the Gas Distribution Specialist career path. Individuals in this role are responsible for completing skill development assignments promptly at each wage step, following established guidelines. These assignments are structured to help the Gas Distribution Specialist learn to work safely and independently within the Customer Field Operations (CFO) department, fulfilling the requirements needed to advance to Gas Distribution Specialist III.

Tasks include mandatory training, tests, certifications, achieving necessary Operator Qualifications, and proving proficiency in regulated and non-regulated service duties. Selection through job posting is required to begin as a Gas Distribution Specialist.

The list below does not cover all the duties and responsibilities required to learn, assist with, and perform regulated and non-regulated CFO tasks independently.

Responsibilities:

The following list is not intended to be all inclusive of duties and responsibilities as needed to learn, assist and independently perform regulated and non-regulated work:

Complete tasks at customer locations; interact professionally and respectfully with external and internal customers; respond to questions about company policies and explain completed work Complete set and turn on of customer meter, including dial test, lighting pilots and testing appliances/equipment. Also safely install, troubleshoot, and repair appliances and piping including but not limited to appliances in crawl spaces and attics.

Perform disconnect and reconnects of services including appliances. Also turn off and/or remove meter due to non-payment from customers (DNP).Perform first responder duties for natural gas emergencies and serve as liaison with emergency officials

Perform/collaborate with operation and maintenance of underground natural gas pipelines, covering intermediate and high-pressure distribution as well as transmission systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to installing, maintaining, repairing, relocating, and retiring both new and existing natural gas facilities and associated equipment.

Perform the role of “Competent Person”Assist with, plan, and set up work zone safety and traffic control measures

Perform general site preparation, restoration and right of way maintenance duties

Operate/transport heavy equipment (e.g., mini-excavators, backhoes, skid steers, trenchers) safely, including excavation near utilities. Perform equipment inspections and preventative maintenance.

Run power tools and perform hand digging

Inspect above ground appurtenances for atmospheric corrosion and paint as required

Corrosion control and pipe remediation, including wrapping and coating pipe Thread and cut pipe Perform plastic pipe fusion

Perform facility locate duties

Check odorant levels

Conduct leak surveys and grade leaks

Install leak clamps

Conduct maintenance on both primary and secondary valves. Operate each valve and apply grease as required.
