The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work:
Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing journey level work in the areas of Heating/Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Hot Water Supply, Plumbing, and Food Service Equipment. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performing special repairs and assignments that are received by work orders from authorized personnel.
- Identifying the cause of a problem; determining materials and tools needed and method of repair; and carrying out repair procedures independently on most jobs.
- Performing scheduled maintenance functions as required and outlined in the preventative maintenance plans.
- Training and/or supervising the work of offender helpers.

About the Division of Institutions:
The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

Richmond Correctional Institution is located in Hoffman, North Carolina and houses up to 420 male offenders in a medium custody facility.
