Mechanic, Trades ​/ Skilled Labor

GFL Environmental is seeking a 2nd-Shift Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of waste collection trucks and heavy equipment. In this role, you will perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems to keep vehicles safe and compliant. You will respond to breakdowns, complete work orders in our maintenance system, and follow strict safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments on diesel trucks and heavy equipment
• Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, brake, and electrical systems
• Respond to breakdowns and perform timely repairs to minimize downtime
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders in CMMSInspect vehicles for safety, regulatory, and environmental compliance
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and shop housekeeping standards
• Collaborate with drivers and operations staff to prioritize repairs
• Order or request needed parts and materials following company procedures
• Support a safety-first, team-oriented, and environmentally responsible culture
