Bearing Construction, Inc. seeks an experienced Crane Operator to support heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities. The operator will safely operate mobile and/or crawler cranes to lift and set pipe, equipment, and structural components, following load charts, lift plans, and OSHA regulations. Duties include daily equipment inspections, rigging verification, coordinating with signal persons, and maintaining accurate logs. The role requires strict adherence to safety procedures, teamwork with field crews, and flexibility to work outdoors in varying conditions on municipal and industrial infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Operate mobile and/or crawler cranes to lift and place materials and equipment on heavy civil projects
- Read and follow load charts, lift plans, and site drawings to execute safe lifts
- Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections and basic preventative maintenance
- Verify proper rigging, work with riggers and signal persons to control loads
- Strictly follow OSHA, NCCCO, and company safety procedures and policies
- Communicate with site supervision to plan lifts and coordinate with other trades
- Maintain equipment logs, inspection records, and basic documentation
- Assist crews with setup, mobilization, and demobilization of crane equipment
- Identify and report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, or near misses
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions on municipal and industrial job sites
Required Skills
- Crane operation (mobile/crawler)
- Load chart interpretation
- Rigging and signaling fundamentals
- Equipment inspection and basic maintenance
- Knowledge of OSHA and crane safety standards
- Reading site plans and lift plans
- Communication with field supervision and crews
- Operation of outriggers, boom extensions, and hoists
- Recordkeeping and equipment logs
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting
